Lisbon is a vibrant city with beautiful architecture, numerous churches and castles and an important port. The Baixa district in particular, with its impressive Rossio, attracts many visitors each year and houses some of Lisbon's main attractions. One of the most beautiful parks, the Eduardo VII Park, overlooks the Tagus and the lower town. There are a lot of hotels here but this is a somewhat more expensive area to stay in. It will take some searching and comparing, but hotels in the city centre can still be booked for attractive prices.
Lisbon is busy during the summer and spring and also during the Alive Festival it is difficult to get a room. The festival usually takes place on 10, 11 and 12 July and attracts big names. Book early!
The Accor group has 9 hotels in and around Lisbon. Many of these hotels have an excellent location. The district Bairro Alto is one of the nicest areas to stay in. Here you will find the Ibis Lisboa Liberdade Hotel. In the same class but a little further away from the center is the Roma Hotel from where a taxi ride of a few minutes takes you to the center. Beach lovers can enjoy themselves at Hotel Praia do Sol, 15 km from Lisbon but 100 m from one of the largest beaches in Portugal.
Cheaper hostels are also to be found in the centre. In one of the oldest districts, within walking distance of the São Jorge Castle, lies the Alfama patio hostel. From here you can reach all the sights as well as the sea in no time at all.

Some of the best locations in the city are found around Parque Eduardo VII. From the park you have a beautiful view over the lower town and the Tagus River. This is Portugal's longest river and flows into the Atlantic Ocean beyond Lisbon. There are a number of luxury hotels close to the park. Impressive is the HF Fénix Lisboa, a luxury hotel at the Praça Marquês de Pombal. In the same area is the Sheraton Hotel Lisboa, a luxury hotel with extensive Spa and wellness facilities. Business travellers will also immediately recognise the Holiday Inn Hotel, a hotel with a good reputation and excellent location in the city centre.
The B&B principle is not very well known in Portugal. However, it is possible to rent flats and apartments for a short or longer period of time. ZUZA Bed offers bed & breakfast possibilities.
