Museo de las Ciencias Príncipe Felipe

The Science Museum is part of the ultra-modern Ciudad de las Artes y de las Ciencias, designed by Santiago Calatrava who has left a clear mark on Valencia. The development of this "city in the city" began at the end of the 1990s. Valencia was afraid of becoming a provincial town: Barcelona had the Olympic Games, Seville the World's Fair and Bilbao got a Guggenheim Museum. In order not to be left out, the city commissioned Calatrava to the design of a futuristic complex, in which he succeeded extremely well.

The museum of science and technology is not just a museum. First of all, it's huge: 40,000 m2. But it is also a museum where it is forbidden not to touch or operate the exhibited objects and installations. This museum spans a wide variety of subjects, including the development of mankind, to modern robots and what genomes exactly are. There are also regular special exhibitions. For example, during the legendary 2007 America's Cup (sailing), an exhibition was set up on the development of sailing.

It is a very nice museum and not only for children. On the ground floor there is a complete TV studio where you can find out everything you need to know about what goes on in television productions. You can create your own program, which will be put on DVD for later viewing at home.

There is a special department for young children (4-7 years). They can experiment there - under supervision - to their heart's content. One of the highlights is a large incubator where children can see live how a chick crawls out of an egg.
